A fuel tanker explosion has killed at least two people and wounded at least 19 others in Baghdad's affluent al-Mansour district, just hours after US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld left the city.
Officials say Friday's blast caused extensive damage in an area housing several Arab embassies, and hospital workers say many of the wounded are being treated for severe burns. Witnesses reported seeing a huge fireball in the area at the time of the blast, and authorities are investigating whether the explosion was the result of an attack. The incident took place just hours after Mr. Rumsfeld's surprise Christmas Eve visit to Baghdad to meet with American troops. The Defense Secretary also visited U.S. troops in Mosul, Tikrit and others stationed near Fallujah.
