Pakistan to Restore Gas Supplies After Tribal Attacks Soon

Pakistan says it will soon restore gas supplies to thousands of consumers from the country's largest gas field in southwestern Baluchistan province.

The pipeline was damaged last week in rocket attacks by Baluch tribesmen. Those attacks left at least eight people dead, and prompted authorities to dispatch thousands of troops to the area.

Petroleum Minister Amanullah Jadoon said today (Wednesday) the repair work on the Sui Southern Gas Company line has been completed. But he said it will take another couple of days to restore full supply.

President Pervez Musharraf warned the rebels that they will not know what hit them if the government decides to respond to their attacks. But tribal leader Hafizullah Bugti has vowed to resist any attack with full force.
