Italian President Ciampi Goes to India Sunday


Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi begins a four day visit to India on Sunday. He will hold talks with President Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Foreign Minister Natwar Singh on ways to expand economic and cultural relations. Italy's ambassador to New Delhi, Antonio Armellini, told the French News Agency Italy is interested in investing in India's infrastructure, especially in urban transport, building roads, and also in modernizing ports and airports. The visit will coincide with the Italy-India Business Week to be launched in New Delhi on Tuesday, showcasing Italy's business and financial achievements. The two sides are also expected to discuss India's efforts to get a permanent seat on U.N. Security Council.
