22 Missing in Bangladesh Boat Accident

Rescuers in Bangladesh have located a capsized boat that went down after colliding with a ferry, but they say there is no trace of 22 people who have been missing since the accident on Saturday.

Thirty-three people were aboard the boat when it sank in the Rupsha River, near southwestern Khulna city. Eleven people managed to swim to safety, but the others disappeared.

Divers located the sunken boat Sunday but did not find any victims trapped in the wreckage. They say bodies of the missing passengers may have been washed downstream. A search for the missing and salvage efforts are continuing.

Poor weather and overcrowding cause frequent boat accidents in Bangladesh.
