Authorities in Bangladesh say at least 149 people are now confirmed dead after a ferry capsized late Saturday near the capital, Dhaka.
Police found at least 30 more bodies in the water today, Tuesday, raising the death toll again. However, authorities said there were no more bodies trapped inside the ferry. Rescuers salvaged the vessel on Monday and searched it.
The M.V. Maharaj was sailing from the capital to the town of Chandpur when it was caught in a tropical storm. The boat is believed to have been carrying around 200 people when it capsized on the Buriganga River. Many passengers were heading home for a public holiday.
