UN Sends Bodies of Bangladeshi Peacekeepers Killed in Congo


The dead bodies of nine Bangladeshi peacekeepers who were killed in an ambush by gunmen on UN forces on patrol in northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo will be flown to Bangladesh by UN.

The Bangladeshi troops killed in the attack were Captain Shahid Ashraf Khan from Bogra district. Warrant Officer Sohrab Hossain Talukdar of Netrokona, Sergeant Sirajul Haque from Barisal, Corporal Ataur Rahman Sarker from Gaibandha, Leading Seaman Nurul Islam Bagerhat district, and privates Abdus Salam (1) of Nilphamari, Abdus Salam (2) from Manikganj, Zahirul Islam from Bogra and Belal Hossain from Noakhali.
