Bodies of Bangladeshi Peacekeepers Arrive in Dhaka


Nine bodies of Bangladeshi peacekeepers, who were killed in an ambush in northeastern Democratic Congo on Friday, arrived in Dhaka on Monday night.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia at the Zia International Airport received the coffins of the peacekeepers wrapped up with the national flag of Bangladesh. The coffins, which were carried by a chartered plane of the United Nations from Ugandan capital of Kampala, will be taken to their respective village home for burial on Tuesday.

Bangladeshi government Monday announced the National Mourning Day for Tuesday to pay last respects to the dead warriors.
