The United States says Iran is manipulating international inspectors as it pursues nuclear weapons, and a US official has again urged that the matter be referred to the UN Security Council. US envoy Jackie Sanders told the International Atomic Energy Agency that its latest report on Iran is a startling list of Iranian attempts to mislead and delay inspection work. She says the IAEA board has an obligation to refer Iran to the Security Council for possible sanctions. Britain, France, and Germany, who are negotiating with Iran to reach a permanent suspension of its uranium enrichment program, said they are seriously concerned about Iran's continued work on its nuclear program. Iranian officials say the program is for peaceful purposes and a permanent stop to enrichment activities is not an option.
