India says US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit New Delhi on March 16th for her first official visit. An Indian foreign ministry spokesman told reporters she is expected to discuss bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest. Indian officials say the discussions will also include Nepal where King Gyanendra has canceled civil liberties and seized dictatorial powers, in an effort to quell a deadly Maoist insurgency. The announcement of Ms. Rice's trip came as Indian and US officials wrapped up two days of talks in New Delhi on issues related to missile defense. The spokesman said US officials briefed India on the newest developments in the US Missile Defense program.
