Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf begins a two-nation Central Asian tour Saturday with a visit to Uzbekistan.
General Musharraf is expected in Tashkent for talks with his Uzbek counterpart Islam Karimov. Officials say the discussions will focus on bilateral cooperation, regional security issues and joint anti-terrorism efforts.
Pakistani media report that General Musharraf will head to Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday for talks with that country's President Askar Akayev.
Officials say the Pakistani leader also hopes to enhance his country's trade opportunities during the tour.
