Hoax Call in ZIA Delays Flight


A Kuwait-bound flight of Kuwait Airlines whichwas scheduled to take off at 7:00am from Zia International Airport (ZIA) with about 200 passengers was delayed because of bomb scare. An unidentified man called the security of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) at around 6:35am and threatened to blow up the aircraft. Kuwait Airlines and CAAB authorities and a team of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) with its dog squad thoroughly checked the plane to find the threat a hoax. After searching the panicked passengers, the authorities finally approved the aircraft's take off.

The State Minister of Civial Aviation Mir Muhammad Nasiruddin said that such calls are made by a "special quarter."
