Pakistani officials say gunmen have killed the former police chief of a remote northern region.
Officials say gunmen Wednesday attacked a car carrying Sakhiullah Tareen near the town of Gilgit in Pakistan's remote north. Several of his family members and security guards were also wounded in the attack.
Mr. Tareen left his post earlier this month amid continuing sectarian violence in the troubled region. Violence between Pakistan's Shiite and Sunni Muslim groups in the area has killed dozens of people.
