A Sister Recalls the Fateful Night of March 25 1971


Thirty four years ago on the night following 25 March, the then Pakistan army began their brutal repression of the Bengalis to crush their desire for democracy and autonomy.They started killing intellectuals and students who had been been a very strong pro-democracy power in Bangladesh.

In this exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service Rizia Wahab, recalls how her brother Dr Muniruzzaman was mercilessly killed by Pakistani Army.She also describes how another Bengali intellectual Dr Jyotirmoy Guhathakurta , professor of English in Dhaka University was shot and he lingered painfully till he breathed his last .

Tomorrow we will broadcast how Sirajuddin Hussain was picked up by Razakars and Al Badars,the para military fundamentalist forces which collaborated with Pakistan army. Sirajuddin Hussain was never found again.
