Death Toll Rises in Bangladesh Garment Factory Collapse

Rescue workers in Bangladesh are searching for more than 150 people still believed to be trapped after a nine-story garment factory collapsed on Monday.

Authorities say the death toll from the incident has risen to at least 29.

Officials say at least 85 injured workers either managed to escape or have been pulled from the rubble following the collapse, believed to have been caused by a boiler explosion.

The building was about 30 kilometers northwest of the capital, Dhaka.

Fire officials said they cannot use equipment to dig because they might harm people under the debris. They said the chances of finding people alive is decreasing.

The garment industry is Bangladesh's biggest export sector, employing one-point-eight million workers.
