Opposition parties in Bangladesh are beginning a movement against the government demanding reforms of the pre-election care-taker government and the election commission. The opposition also want that an election commissioner should be appointed unanimously. The present election commissioners term of office ends in the middle of the next month. The BNP led coalition government has, however, rejected any compromise in this issue. Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, the General Secretary of the ruling BNP has rejected the idea of having any dialogues with the opposition on electoral issues. He says that his government will strictly follow the constitution although the opposition may present their suggestions in the parliament.
