Japanese prime minister Junichiro Koizumi has concluded his two-day visit to Pakistan by reinstating a loan program while also voicing concern about Pakistan's nuclear program. Mr. Koizumi promised to provide more than 150-million dollars in new loans to Pakistan, reactivating a loan program suspended in 1998 after Pakistan conducted its first nuclear tests. However, Mr. Koizumi said on Sunday he told Pakistani president, General Pervez Musharraf, that Japan has been striving for elimination of nuclear weapons and nonproliferation of nuclear weapons. International concerns over leaks of Pakistani nuclear technology emerged last year, after Pakistani nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan confessed to illegally selling nuclear technology to several countries, including Iran. Mr. Khan is currently under Pakistani investigation.
