Pakistani Police Break Up Protest by Journalists

Pakistani police have broken up a rally in Islamabad staged by journalists to mark World Press Freedom Day.

Witnesses say the journalists were holding a peaceful rally in front of parliament (Tuesday) when dozens of baton-wielding policemen charged them. About 30 of the protesters were arrested.

Pakistani Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed called the incident "unfortunate" and said the detainees would be released.

Angered reporters boycotted coverage of parliament in protest.
