India, Pakistan to Hold Several Meetings This Month

India and Pakistan have agreed to hold several meetings this month on ways to resolve their lingering disputes. According to an Indian foreign ministry spokesman, the first meeting takes place in Pakistan next Tuesday to discuss a bus service linking India's Sikh holy city of Amritsar with Lahore. On May 25th, defense ministry officials from the two sides will meet in Islamabad for discussions on the Siachen glacier dispute. On May 27th, they will hold talks, also in Islamabad, on the demarcation of the boundary between India's western Gujarat state and Pakistan's southern Sindh province, The dialogue on these disputes began last year when the two nuclear-armed rivals agreed to a series of confidence-building measures as part of a peace process, which they have described as "irreversible".
