Lebanese television reports say an explosion has rocked a Christian suburb north of Beirut. The reports say one person was killed and six wounded in the blast late Friday in the seaside town of Jounieh.
The blast comes on the eve of the return to Lebanon of exiled former army commander and prominent opposition leader, General Michel Aoun. Lebanon has been in a state of political turmoil since the February 14th assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. His murder sparked massive political protests and led to the withdrawal of Syrian troops and intelligence agents from Lebanon.
