The US Ambassador in Bangladesh Harry K Thomas said that investigations would be done on the allegation that US interrogators in the Guantanamo Bay have desecrated Quran , the Holy Scripture of the Muslims. In an interview with VOA Bangla Service, he said that person or persons found guilty would be punished.Ambassador Thomas also said that people of Bangladesh are moderate and he hoped that they would give American government time to investigate the allegations. Referring to Condoleeza Rice’s previous statement , the US Ambassador said that the investigation is done first to find out whether this has at all happened or not. He said that people of Muslim and Christian faith have been living together for ages and have lots of common values.
The Bangladeshi government also condemned the alleged abuses and urged Washington to bring those responsible to justice.
