Anwar Chowdhury, the Britain’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh has expressed his frustrations at the prevailing relationship between the ruling parties and the opposition in Bangladesh. He was speaking at a discussion meeting was organized by Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Bangladesh (DCAB) at a city hotel. Mr Chowdhury said that the rift between the parties was detrimental to the interest of democracy in Bangladesh. He added that on economic and other developmental issues the parties should have minimum consensus amongst them. The British envoy said that the issues on caretaker government and reforming the election commission could be meaningfully resolved through dialogue. He , however added that Britain was not prepared to mediate on this issue. This is something which people of Bangladesh needed to decide. High Commissioner Chowdhury said that unless the corruption is controlled the government aid to Bangladesh from Britain will not be increased .
