A statement published on Islamist websites says Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is in good health and is leading insurgent operations in Iraq. The statement was attributed to a spokesman for Zarqawi's group, al Qaida in Iraq, but its authenticity could not be confirmed. In recent days similar Internet postings reported the terrorist leader was wounded. Meanwhile, the US military says insurgents killed two U.S. soldiers by shooting down a US helicopter north of Baghdad Thursday night, and an American Marine was killed in the Euphrates River city of Hadithah where a U.S. offensive is now in its third day. Coalition forces are conducting intensified anti-insurgent operations in western Iraq and, beginning next week, some 40-thousand Iraqi forces will cordon off Baghdad for a major crackdown.
