The CPI(M) said on Saturday that it was trying to bring together the Congress, RJD and LJP to avoid split in "secular" votes in the coming Bihar Assembly elections.
Conceding that there was now a split in secular votes in Bihar, veteran CPI-M Polit Bureau member Jyoti Basu, told reporters that Left parties were trying to forge unity among secular parties. Mr. Basu was attending the party's Central Committee meeting in Kolkata.
