A series of bomb blasts in Tehran and the southwestern Iranian city Ahvaz has killed at least 10 people and injured dozens more. The latest explosion occurred Sunday evening when a small bomb went off in a trash can in a crowded commercial district of central Tehran. Two people died and at least three others were injured. Sunday morning, four bombs exploded in and around public buildings in Ahvaz, the capital of the Khuzestan province, 550 kilometers southwest of Teheran. The Ahvaz explosions left eight people dead and at least 70 injured. The deputy governor of the province, Gholam Reza Hariati, said he believes the bombings were intended to undermine public participation in Friday's presidential elections. . There have been no claims of responsibility for any of the attacks.
