Hasina  Expresses Concerns About Violence & Extremism 


Sheikh Hasina , the Leader of the Opposition in Bangladesh has expressed her deep concerns on corruption in the government , lack of good governance and the rise of the fundamentalist extremists . The opposition leader also referred to a recent comment by the US Assistant Secretary of State Christina Rocca where Ms Rocca had said that the democratic process and stability in Bangladesh are facing impediments . Sheikh Hasina said that the government needs to blamed for what is happening in Bangladesh . In the post budget , news conference Sheikh Hasina criticized the proposed budget of the government and analysed various aspects of the proposed budget, from agriculture to education, social safety net, health, rural development and infrastructure, energy and power, economic growth and inflation. She pledged to bring discipline in the financial sector by establishing good governance if her party is voted back to power. The budget lacks direction to deal with issues like price hike of essentials, unemployment, good governance, corruption, poverty alleviation, violence and violation of human rights, she said. The rural economy and the three-fourths of total population, who live in rural areas, have also been ignored, she added.
