Arts and Entertainment: T S Eliot (Part 2)

American-British poet and critic Thomas Stearns Eliot was born in 1888 in St. Lois, Missouri.

One of the most distinguished literary figures of the 20th century. T. S. Eliot won the 1948 Nobel Prize in Literature. He studied at Harvard, the Sorbonne, and Oxford. In 1914 he established residence in London and in 1927 became a British subject.

Eliot has been one of the most daring innovators of twentieth-century poetry. Never compromising either with the public or indeed with language itself, he has followed his belief that poetry should aim at a representation of the complexities of modern civilization in language and that such representation necessarily leads to difficult poetry.
