Authorities in Indian Kashmir say suspected Islamic militants have stormed a remote mountain village and killed at least three residents.
Police say the attack took place late Wednesday in Udhampur district north of Jammu city.
They say the dead included a 20-year old woman, her mother and a male relative. No one has claimed responsibility for the assault.
More than a dozen militant separatist groups in Indian Kashmir have been attacking government targets, saying they oppose the ongoing peace process between India and Pakistan.
Kashmiri militants have been fighting since 1989 for Kashmir's independence or its merger with Pakistan. The insurgency has claimed tens of thousands of lives.
