Suicide Bombings Continue in Iraq

Suicide bombings in Iraq continued on Sunday as townspeople south of Baghdad worked to identify the charred remains of dozens of people killed late Saturday in a huge blast in Musayyib.

Saturday's bomber positioned himself near a fuel truck and the blast devastated the center of Musayyib, killing more than 90 people and wounding dozens of others.

In Baghdad today, at least nine Iraqis were killed in four bombings targeting police and military convoys. Separately, a U.S. soldier was killed and two others wounded by a roadside bomb in Kirkuk.

Meanwhile, outgoing Iranian President Mohammed Khatami welcomed Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari to Tehran with a pledge to increase security cooperation with Baghdad.

Mr. Khatami called the Iraqi prime minister's visit a turning point in relations between the two countries, which fought a devastating eight-year war in the 1980s.
