Pakistan has accused Indian soldiers of crossing the Line of Control that divides Kashmir and seizing a Pakistani villager. Pakistani military says the the director general of military operations lodged a strong protest Monday with his Indian counterpart over the intrusion and demanded a safe return of the villager. A spokesman, Major General Shaukat Sultan, told the media the Indian side had promised to investigate the matter by Tuesday. India accuses Pakistan of arming Muslim rebels who have been fighting for Kashmir's independence or its merger with Pakistan since 1989. The insurgency in the disputed region has claimed tens of thousands of lives.
