Iraqi police say Algeria's top diplomat in Iraq and an aide have been abducted in western Baghdad.
Authorities say gunmen in two cars grabbed the men outside a restaurant in the upscale Al-Mansour district in broad daylight Thursday.
Top diplomats from three other Muslim countries - Egypt, Bahrain and Pakistan - were separately targeted in western Baghdad earlier this month.
The Egyptian envoy was kidnapped and insurgents claimed to have killed him, but his body has not been found. Bahrain's envoy was wounded, while the Pakistani ambassador escaped unhurt.
Elsewhere, insurgents killed at least a dozen people Thursday, including five Iraqi soldiers in a suicide car bombing south of Baghdad. The U.S. military reports that an American sailor also died today of wounds sustained in a bomb blast last week.
