A London Journalist Describes the Situation: Second Blast in London

  • Anis Ahmed

British police have evacuated three London subway stations and a city bus following explosions on the transport lines. Emergency services have been dispatched to the scene. Service has been suspended on at least three subway lines. Authorities report at least one injury. The noontime explosions come exactly two weeks after a series of blasts on subway trains and a city bus killed at least 56 people. London's police commissioner Ian Blair called the incidents very serious but said the bombs were much smaller than two weeks ago. He appealed to the public for calm and urged Londoners to remain where they are while authorities investigate. He said he will be meeting with Prime Minister Tony Blair and other members of an emergency cabinet committee that will monitor the incidents. In this report , Syed Mansooruddin, News Editor of a Bangla Weekly , Surma describes the actual situation in London while police and rescue team continue their operations.
