Pakistan's opposition leader and fire-brand Cleric Fazal-ur Rahman says he has been barred by authorities in the United Arab Emirates from transiting there en route to Saudi Arabia.
Mr. Rahman told Pakistan's Geo television that he arrived in the Emirates from Libya and was prevented from going on to Saudi Arabia before returning home. He added that he did not know why he had been barred from going to Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan's Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said the Emirate's immigration had blacklisted Mr. Rahman and that could be the reason his travel was being restricted. He did not say why was he blacklisted.
Mr. Rahman is an opposition leader in parliament and his pro-Taleban Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party is a key member of a hardline anti-US and anti-Musharraf alliance.
