Debate continues about establishing a statue of Mangal Pandey , a freedom fighter of India against the British colonial rule. But the questions are being increasingly raised whether his attack against his commanding officer was dictated by his notion of patriotism or simply by his anger resulted through drug addiction. Historians also raises debates about the events of 1875 . Opinions are sharply divided whether the event was only a Sepoy Mutiny or the beginning of the Indian Independence Movement. The statue was unveiled on Friday , the very day a film was released about him. The questions still remain after 150 years, whether Pandey should at all be seen as a freedom fighter .
