Paul Wolfowitz, the President of the World Bank said that political confrontations in Bangladesh has brought in a hindrance to the development of the country. He said that if things had worked smoothly , Bangladesh could have an annual growth rate of 8% which could have improved the fate of the millions. After meeting Finance Minister Saifur Rahman , WB President said that despite commendable resources , corruption has pulled Bangladesh down from the point it struggles to reach. He later made courtesy calls to Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and the Leader of the Opposition Sheikh Hasina.
