Barrister Rokunuddin Mahmud , the Vice President of Bangladesh Bar Council said that over the last few years terrorism and religious fanatcism has increased many fold in Bangladesh. In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service Barrister Mahmud gave details of terrorisms and repressions against liberal political parties , thinkers and intellectuals in Bangladesh. He said that recent unity convention against terrorism was above any kind of partisanship. It involved everyone who takes a firm stand against any form of terrorisms for any reasons whatsoever. He, however, said that the religious fundamentalists in Bangladesh were excluded from such conventions because he alleges that they have been behind the terrorism in the name of religion . Barrister Rokunuddin Mahmud recalled that Bangladesh came into being as a secular democracy and it is now plunging into extremism. The second part of his interview will be on air on September, 5.
