West Bengal CM Blames ULFA for Cooch Behar Movement

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya said that the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) was behind a statehood movement in Cooch Behar in north Bengal which claimed three lives on Tuesday during a clash between police and activists.

Addressing a public rally, the chief minister criticized the Greater Cooch Behar People’s Association (GCPA) and said the ULFA was backing the secessionist movement in Cooch Behar district.

The Chief minister also said that his government would never agree for a separate statehood for the tribal Cooch Behar district. Paramashish Ghosh Roy has more on the story.
