Nigerian Officials Say No Survivors in Plane Crash

Nigeria officials say everyone on board a local passenger plane apparently died when the Boeing 737 crashed after take-off from Lagos late Saturday. There were 117 passengers and crew aboard. Red Cross officials say there are no traces of any survivors. Nigerian officials and state media report the wreckage of the Bellview Airlines plane has been located in Lissa in Ogun State, a short distance from Lagos. Earlier reports said the plane went down in Oyo state - about 200 kilometers north of Lagos. The plane, bound for Abuja, lost contact with the Lagos airport control tower shortly after taking off. Media reports say the pilot issued a distress call just before the plane disappeared from radar. Nigerian state radio says some high-level government officials were on board.
