Condemnation of the bombings in India, and sympathy for the victims, has been offered around the world. In a statement,
U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan said he was appalled by the crime and urged authorities to prosecute those responsible. British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and European Union Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana each condemned the blasts in New Delhi. And from neighboring Pakistan, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, said his government strongly condemns the attacks that resulted in the loss of innocent lives. Mr. Ahmad said the people of Pakistan are shocked by the crime as he expressed deep sympathy for the families of the victims.
