U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow has arrived in India to seek stronger trade ties and increased cooperation on economic matters.
Mr. Snow arrived in India's financial capital of Bombay, also known as Mumbai on Sunday and is scheduled to visit the National Stock Exchange and other financial operations Monday and Tuesday.
He is scheduled to be in the capital, New Delhi to meet with India's finance minister on Wednesday. On Thursday, he is scheduled to address business leaders in the capital.
A Treasury Department statement says Mr. Snow will press India to allow foreign companies greater freedom to invest in the country's booming financial sector.
Mr. Snow's visit follows a July agreement between the United States and India on military cooperation and sales of civilian nuclear equipment.
