A court in the Indian city of Mumbai has ordered a suspect in the 1993 New Delhi bombings to be held in jail pending another court appearance later this month.
The court ruled Friday after Abu Salem was extradited from Portugal to face charges he helped plan the 1993 bombings, which claimed more than 250 lives and injured hundreds more.
The attacks are widely believed to have come in retaliation for the deaths of hundreds of Muslims in religious riots in 1993.
In a separate case, police in New Delhi have said they now believe a man they questioned in connection with last month's bombing attacks in that city did not commit the crime. They say they believe he made a false confession.
