Leader of the Opposition Sheikh Hasina held separate meetings with Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel on Sunday.
During the half an hour-long meeting with the Indian premier, Awami League (AL) chief Hasina discussed bilateral issues concerning mutual interests. They also discussed different issues related to regional cooperation including poverty alleviation and curbing terrorism. Hasina also met Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel and discussed bilateral issues that included economic development, growth strategy and relations between the two countries. In a press conference in Dhaka , however, Hasina severely criticized the government on the extravaganza centering the SAARC summit. The Opposition leader said that the government has been totally apathetic to the near-famine situation in Northern Bangladesh while spending millions for the SAARC Summit.
