The death toll from a bus accident in earthquake-stricken Pakistani Kashmir has risen to at least eight after rescue workers recovered more bodies from the wreckage. Authorities say the accident happened on Sunday in the Neelam valley, just north of the devastated regional capital, Muzaffarabad. They say the bus ran into a deep ditch and hit the bank of the Neelam river. Scores of people were injured, some of them critically. A local charity group said 50 people were on the bus at the time of the accident, but local police say the exact number is not known.
