Israel's military has launched missiles at targets in the northern Gaza Strip after Palestinian militants fired rockets into Israel.
Palestinian security officials say the missiles struck an area north of Beit Hanoun late Thursday, wounding at least two people.
Israeli military officials said they targeted areas militants use to launch rockets into Israel. Israeli officials say militants fired at least four rockets from Gaza earlier Thursday, one of which landed near the coastal city of Ashkelon.
Meanwhile, Palestinian officials say candidates from the militant group Hamas appear to have won the latest round of local elections in the West Bank Thursday. They say initial returns indicate Hamas beat out the ruling Fatah party in at least two cities, Nablus and al-Bireh.
