The Indian government has announced plans to bolster security along the country's border with Bangladesh. Indian officials say the increased security efforts are aimed at cracking down on the movement of armed militants and other migrants who allegedly enter India from Bangladesh. The security plan includes raising the number of border outposts from 816 to 11-hundred, increasing the troop presence by eight thousand soldiers, and completing the installation of a barbed wire fence. Traditionally, relations between India and Bangladesh have been friendly, but occasional border disputes in recent years have strained their relations.
