Bangladesh to Enact Tougher Anti-terrorism Law

Bangladesh Law Minister Barrister Maudud Ahmed Tuesday said a comprehensive anti-terrorism law providing for deterrent punishment to terrors, their patrons, financiers and trainers would be placed in next session of parliament.

"The draft bill has been sent to the Home Ministry for its perusal and hopefully it will be placed before the next parliament session," he said at a press conference at the CHT Ministry Auditorium. He said militants arrested in connection with bomb blasts were charged with offences under the Explosive Substance Act to probe their involvement. Eight cases have already been forwarded to the speedy trial tribunal, he added.

Amir Khasru has more on the story.
