Bangladesh Parliament Remains Inactive in 2005, Amidst Opposition Boycott


Throughout 2005 Jatiya Sangsad, the National Parliament in Bangladesh has remained inactive amidst boycotts , in most of the session by the MPs of Awami League who make a bulk of the opposition bench in the parliament. Awami League alleges that the Parliament in Bangladesh has now become a one party affair where the oppositions are not allowed to speak on matters relating to the bomb blasts on August 21 or August 17 . In 2005 of the 62 working days in the parliament , the Awami League attended the session only for one day. In last four years out of 302 working days , Awami league attended the parliament session only for 87 days.
