The year 2005 was remarkably different from any preceding time in Bangladesh. Although allegedly the process had begun earlier, this year marked the violence and militancy of the Islamic fundamentalists all over Bangladesh. With the nationwide bombing on August 17 2005 allegedly by Jamiatul Mujahideen of Bangladesh , the Islamic militancy took a new turn. This group has been pressing hard to impose strict Sha’ria law in Bangladesh. At least 25 people, including two judges, were killed in those attacks. However people in Bangladesh have raised their voice against Islamic terrorism in the country despite the failure by the politicians to combat the menace effectively.
