Moscow says it will restore full supplies to all its European natural gas customers except Ukraine by Tuesday. Russia cut off gas supplies to Ukraine Sunday over a price dispute.
The state-run gas company, Gazprom, has accused Ukraine of causing a natural gas shortage in Europe by stealing gas from pipelines that cut across Ukraine. Kiev denies the charge. Gazprom is boosting the amount of gas through the pipelines to make up for shortages in several countries, including France, Poland, and Moldova.
Hungarian officials say they are again receiving a normal supply. Gazprom wants to quadruple the price it charges Ukraine, saying a market economy must pay market prices. Ukraine accuses Russia of trying to wreck its economy and wants a gradual price increase.
