Indonesian soldiers and volunteers recovered more bodies on Thursday from the remains of a village buried by a landslide in Central Java province, raising the death toll to 21.
More than 100 people are believed to be trapped under the mud, and feared dead.
Tons of mud and rock loosened by heavy rains slammed into the village of Sijeruk (in the Banjar Negara district), before dawn Wednesday. Hundreds of residents were asleep at the time, or attending early morning prayers at the local mosque.
The landslide happened days after flash floods hit neighboring East Java, killing at least 77 people.
