Chief Judge in Saddam Trial Submits Resignation

Iraqi officials say the chief judge in the trial of ousted leader Saddam Hussein has submitted his resignation. It is not clear whether the resignation of Kurdish judge Rizgar Amin was accepted. Saddam is being tried for the 1982 killings of 140 Shi'ite Muslims from the town of Dujail after a failed assassination attempt.

In another developments, Iraqi election officials say the final certified results of the December 15th parliamentary elections probably will not be released until the end of this month. Al-Qaida in Iraq has claimed credit on jihadist websites for shooting down a U.S. helicopter in Mosul Friday. The crash killed both pilots. And on Saturday, the U.S. military said an American Marine died of his wounds suffered Friday in the western town of Ramadi.
